Sex Discrimination (Sexual Orientation, Gender identity and Intersex Status) Amendment Bill 2013

The Sex Discrimination (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Intersex Status) Amendment Bill 2013 was passed by the House of Representatives on 25 June 2013. The Bill extends protections under the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) and also ensures that Commonwealth funded aged care providers can not discriminate in the services they provide to elderly LGBTI people.

This is important legislation as many aged care providers are faith-based, and will mean that elderly LGBTI people will be treated with the dignity and respect all elderly people deserve.
