Today Tasmania’s Governor, Her Excellency Professor Kate Warner launched the national version of Girls Gotta Know  at Ogilvie Girls High School in Hobart.

Just over two years ago WLS launched the Tasmanian version of Girls Gotta Know after it was funded by the Tasmanian Community Fund. Following on from a huge national response the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Office provided WLS with funding to roll Girls Gotta Know out nationally. Working with the Women’s Legal Service in each state and territory along with law firm DLA Piper  who provided significant pro bono assistance, we re-built the whole site for a national version.

Her Excellency, a renowned Professor of Law gave a glowing recommendation of the site and commended it to the young women attending from a number of local girls schools.

We are exceptionally proud that our otherwise small service has produced the largest resource of its kind in Australia.

The invitation remains open for all organisations and individuals to contact us with suggestions for content, links or resources as we see this resource as one that will continue to grow and evolve.
