Contacting Us

Women’s Legal Service Tasmania operates a statewide telephone advice line. Wherever you live in Tasmania, the first point of contact with us is through the 1800 Advice line. When you call, one of our friendly administration officers will book a free phone consultation for you with one of our Solicitors.
If you have hearing or speech difficulty, you can contact us through the National Relay Service (more details below). If you require an Interpreter for the appointment this can be arranged. Should you require a face-to-face appointment with one of our Solicitors, please advise our administration team upon calling.

Telephone Legal Advice Line – 1800 682 468

Our telephone advice line is the first point of contact for all legal advice and assistance.

Calling our 1800 number is free from landlines and most mobiles (some phone companies do charge for calling 1800 numbers, so please check before dialling).  You can call the 1800 service from anywhere in Tasmania, and the call will not be displayed on your telephone bill.

All calls are completely confidential.

The 1800 line operates between 10:00am and 4:00pm each weekday.  Outside of these hours you can leave a message with your name and number, and we will call you back (please indicate if it is safe for us to leave a message on your voicemail).

Service Providers

Women’s Legal Service Tasmania works with other service providers and community stakeholders to refer clients into the service.

We have prepared a document outlining the assistance we are able to provide, as well as a form to refer into our Service.

National Relay Service (NRS)

The National Relay Service (NRS) is an Australia wide phone service for people who have hearing or speech difficulties.  NRS can help you contact Women’s Legal Service Tasmania, stay in touch and get things done.

You can initiate a call or receive a call by going through the NRS website here. When you initiate a call through the NRS, a relay officer will initially answer your call, then contact us on your behalf.  If you are unable to hear, the relay officer can listen to the response from us and type it back for you to read.  All calls made through the NRS are confidential, and relay officers must respect your privacy.

Further information and NRS contact details can be obtained from the National Relay Service information page.
